It is now only a matter of time before World Tourism Day 2022 celebrates its 25th anniversary, with every part of the sector being invited to be a part of this annual celebration. There is going to be an official World Tourism Day celebration in Bali, Indonesia, on 27 September, marking the beginning of a shift towards tourism being recognized as a key pillar for the development of the world.

Indonesia to host World Tourism Day celebrations in 2022The theme of this year’s International Day of Observance is ‘Rethinking Tourism’, which focuses on re-imagining the sector’s growth in terms of size and relevance. On 27 September, the Republic of Indonesia will host the UNWTO’s official day. All UNWTO Member states and non-members, as well as stakeholders across all sectors, are invited to celebrate and promote the day.

This year’s theme, “Rethinking Tourism”, is intended to spark discussion on how tourism can be used for development, including through education and employment, rethinking tourism’s impact on the planet, and exploring ways for tourism to grow more sustainably in the future.
